Numeracy: finding symmetry in the alphabet

The dotted line through the middle of the letter A is called a mirror line, because if you place a mirror along it, the shape looks exactly the same as the original.

Another name for a mirror line is a line of symmetry. This kind of symmetry can also be called 'reflective symmetry' .

Symmetry - Regular polygons

If you cut out a rectangle from a piece of paper, and experiment with it and a mirror, you will soon find that it has just two lines of symmetry - one lengthwise and one widthwise.

An equilateral triangle has three lines of symmetry.

4th Inca

4th Molina is working every week in a project where both children and parents can work together to produce a book. Every child will have the chance to take this project home as it will be developed through out the year.  This is an AMAZING opportunity for the child to make a book with a topic of his/ her choice and become a publisher!!

Every Thursday morning we have had the pleasure to have both parents and children to talk about the book produced. It has been a wonderful experience for each child to acknowledge the fact that even though they are young they are able to make a book that is of interest for others and most importantly is that they can become future authors. Their creativity can be seen in their piece of work.

We would like to thank those parents and children who have already taken part in this project.

We are looking forward to seeing more publishers in the future!!
